Hi everyone its Bart Olszewski. Today I want to talk about Rego Park, give you a market report and tell you a little bit about the neighborhood. Rego Park is a place I know well as I lived there for more than 10 years. I went to Forest Hills High School, I know the area. Anyway, Rego Park was settled in the 1920’s when a construction company called “Real Good Construction Company” build more than 500 homes in Rego Park. This is where the Rego Park gets its name – Re Go – from REal GOod, the first 2 letters in the first 2 words of the company’s name. These homes sold for about $20,000 each. Now homes here are obviously worth a lot more. There are around 40,000 people living in Rego Park. Let’s get to real estate.
Today on the market in Rego Park we have 30 homes for sale with an average price of $723,000. That sounds like a high number, but what are these homes selling for? This year, from January to October we have had 33 sales in Rego Park with an average selling price of $687,000. Lets compare that to last year, because this will tell us about the real estate market trend in Rego Park. Last year – from Jan 09 to Oct 09 we have had 32 sales, almost exactly the same number as this year. The average price for those 32 homes was $634,000 so thats almost $50,000 less than this year. Any way you look at it, it’s a positive trend! That’s great, and if you are thinking about buying or selling your home in Rego Park, Forest Hills, Middle Village, Maspeth, Glendale, Kew Gardens or anywhere else in Queens, shoot me an email to [email protected]. Hope to hear from you soon. Have a great day!
